Meet the Alegado Family – Ten Trails’ 500^th Family 

Meet the Alegado family, new residents in Ten Trails and our 500^th family to move into the community! Gideon and Katrina Alegado and their two teenage children move to Ten Trails in June from nearby Maple Valley and are loving their new Oakridge Homes home and the lifestyle offered in the community.

Home Shopping Remotely During the Pandemic 

Like many families, it became obvious to the Alegados during pandemic stay-at-home orders that they needed more room for their family. With their kids now teenagers and Gideon and Katrina working from home, they quickly realized their 1,660 square-foot home in Maple Valley, while cozy, just was not well-suited for the family any longer. The Alegados started their search for a new home online during the pandemic and they first toured their current home virtually while vacationing at a friend’s home in Hawaii.

“We were looking at photos of the house literally from the beach and then we made an offer the next day, sight unseen,” said Katrina. “A few days later we were signing paperwork on our friend’s patio overlooking the ocean.”

 

More Space to Spread Out in a Growing Community

As they get settled in a big and beautiful 2,800-square-foot home, the Alegados joke that they sometimes cannot find one another.

  “I’m sure it will fill up, but right now it feels massive,” said Gideon.

  The family is eager to explore all the amenities Ten Trails offers, like the many parks and green spaces, sports courts, and community pea patches.

  “We’ve been out on the trails many times,” said Katrina who enjoys walking the family’s dog, Echo, on the miles of nature trails.

    The Alegados are also looking forward to meeting more of their neighbors at upcoming community events, like the Sunset Markets.

Meet Stephanie and Ryan Grant | New Residents of the Towns Collection at Ten Trails

Ten Trails is happy to introduce Stephanie and Ryan Grant! The Grants moved into their new Cumberland plan townhome by Rudd in May of this year, joining some of their family members who already live in the community.

One Family, Multiple Homes in Ten Trails 

The Grants knew about Ten Trails long before offering on their new home. Stephanie’s parents, her sister and brother-in-law purchased one of Lennar’s Multi-generational Bainbridge floorplan homes by Lennar and have been living in the community since February 2019. Stephanie had even attended one of the community’s summer concert events to see Aaron Crawford perform at the Village Green in August of 2019. The couple had looked at some of the cottage homes by Lennar previously, but they were not right for them. “When the townhomes had their grand opening, we went to ‘just look,’” says Stephanie. “I now say it is my famous last words because we just loved what we saw.”

Low Maintenance Floorplan Ideal for Entertaining

Stephanie and Ryan were attracted to the townhomes by Rudd right away because they did not have yards to take care of. What shrubbery and trees they do have on their patios is taken care of by the HOA. “We came from living on a large lot and it was just too much work to try to keep up with it on our days off,” Ryan explains. In addition, the couple enjoys hosting parties and loved Rudd’s Cumberland plan with its huge kitchen and large open living space.

Worth the Wait

The Grants offered on their new townhome right as the pandemic was getting started and had a few delays to their moving day due to hiccups on the closing of their Maple Valley home they were selling. “Our previous home was 30 years old and there were a lot of inspection items to take care of,” Stephanie explains. “We also lost a buyer in the process, so it took a lot longer than we had hoped. The first morning we were in the new house I woke up around 5:30 am because we didn’t have any blinds on the windows yet. I could see the sun rising over the foothills and light was pouring into our beautiful new master bedroom. After all the weeks of stress I was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief and I thought, ‘this was all well worth it.’” Welcome to the community, you two! Meet Aimee Sayles-Miller | New Resident of the Rudd Townhomes at Ten Trails

Ten Trails is happy to introduce one of our newest residents, Aimee Sayles-Miller! Aimee is originally from Los Angeles but has lived in southeastern King County for the past ten years. With her two grown daughters out of the home, Aimee was ready to downsize from her Maple Valley home to a new and modern townhome by Rudd at Ten Trails!

Low Maintenance Living in a Beautiful Master Planned Community 

Aimee heard about the new homes being built at Ten Trails from a friend and was completely blown away when she visited the community and saw all the planning and infrastructure that was in place. “As soon as I saw it, I knew this is where I was going to live,” she says of her first visit to Ten Trails. Aimee loved the Hobart plan in the Towns Collection because of the functional modern kitchen and the huge tandem garage which she says is the perfect place for her three dogs’ crates.

An Active Lifestyle in a Growing Community 

Since moving to Ten Trails in April, Aimee has found that she is enjoying walking more now that she has so many options for walking paths and trails in the community. Meeting neighbors has also been easy for Aimee and she now counts her townhome neighbors as some of her dearest friends. “My building consists of five units, and I know everyone who lives here,” Aimee says. “Everyone is super friendly, and we joke that we have patio parties on Friday nights. Ten Trails is happy to introduce some of our newest residents, the Asantes! Heather, Imani, and Emma Asante moved to Ten Trails from West Seattle in October with their Shitzu-Poodle, Charlie.

Search for a Close-Knit Community with Family Nearby

Heather and Imani began their search for their new home in south King County to be closer to their family members live in Covington. Heather and Emma visited the Welcome Center and model homes early last fall and fell in love with the sense of community they felt at Ten Trails, the beautiful new model homes, and all of the parks and green spaces in the community.

Hickory Floorplan by Lennar at Ten Trails

The couple chose to purchase the Hickory floorplan by Lennar because the floorplan fit their family’s needs and they especially loved the home’s large, open kitchen and living space. “We loved being able to have family come to our house this year for the holidays,” Heather says. Prior to moving to Ten Trails, the family of three lived in a rental home in West Seattle that was less than 1,000 square feet total in size with only one bathroom. “Having all of this extra space has been amazing,” Heather says.

The Asantes are looking forward to warmer weather and being able to get outside more to gather with neighbors in the parks and at one of the community’s many fire pits. The Scotts were drawn to the community because of the competitive prices on brand new homes and fell in love with the great amenities offered at Ten Trails. “I’ve always been attracted to city living,” says Kit, “but I don’t necessarily want to live around all the crazy crowds and nightlife that brings. A Community for Residents of all Ages

The Scotts have three teenage children who are enjoying their new Ichijo Sawyer plan home as much as their parents. “They love bringing their friends over to show off the house,” says Kit. Meet Felecia Wheatfall, New Resident of Ten Trails

Ten Trails is happy to introduce one of our newest residents, Felecia Wheatfall! Felicia is a first-time homebuyer from Renton who moved into her new Lennar home this past November. “It was wonderful to spend Thanksgiving in my home,” says Felecia. Regarding the quick turnaround time from moving day to holiday season, Felecia says it put a lot of pressure on her to try to get the house set up quickly for guests, but the efforts were well worth it. “It was lovely to be able to host my mom and brother for the holiday in my brand new home,” she says.

Easy Commuting with the Microsoft Connector

Felecia is a special projects manager within Microsoft Research. When shopping for homes, her commute was a factor in her final decision of where to buy, and she says Ten Trails’ close proximity to the Microsoft Connector stop in Covington was one of the factors that sold her on buying a new home in the community. She plans to commute to the Microsoft campus in Redmond via the Connector on most days, and work from home when she is able using the one-gig internet in her home via Wave.

First-Time Home Buyer in a Competitive Market

Given the fast-paced and high-priced real estate market in the Seattle area, Felecia says she had all but written off being able to achieve her dream of homeownership before finding Ten Trails. “I had made offers on several homes last year and kept getting outbid by other buyers. The whole process was really frustrating and I was almost ready to give up. The home-buying process was much less stressful when buying a new home from Lennar and I was able to take some time to select the home I really wanted.”

Jiaxin works at Boeing and used to commute to his workplace from University Place near Tacoma. “The traffic going past the Tacoma Dome can be terrible,” he says. “This commute from Ten Trails is much easier.” The couple also notes that they love that Ten Trails is in a quiet, wooded setting, but still close to nearby shopping plazas for day-to-day needs.

Meet the Rae Family! New Neighbors at Ten Trails

Meet some of Ten Trails’ newer residents, the Rae family! Ben and Sarah Rae moved their family of five to the community from nearby Covington and couldn’t be happier with their new Lennar Aspen model home! “We came from a three-bedroom home and needed more space,” says Ben of the couple’s initial reason for moving. “We also were hoping to move into a neighborhood where the kids would have other children their own age to play with, and we definitely found that here at Ten Trails.”

Community Parks and Amenities

The Raes love spending time in the community park that’s just steps away from their front door, and the family enjoys taking walks over to the Civic Park where the Rae kids: Benny, Sophia and June, enjoy the playground equipment and playing hockey in the sports court. “We also bought bikes after moving in so we could bike around the community,” says Sarah. “We love the wide sidewalks that make it easy for all of us to bike.”

Meet Jan and Dave Wix, New Neighbors at Ten Trails!

Ten Trails is happy to welcome new neighbors, Jan and Dave Wix! The couple moved to Ten Trails this past spring from nearby Kent after a long search of nearby communities. Self-described, “newlyweds,” the Wixes were on the hunt for a home they could select together as a new couple and could not be more delighted to settle into married life at Ten Trails. When it came time for house-hunting, Dave had heard about Ten Trails and did some initial research on the community’s website. The master-planned community concept appealed to the couple, and they liked what they saw when they visited Ten Trails, including the well-manicured common areas that are kept looking beautiful by efforts from the developer and HOA. The Wixes had been looking for new homes for nearly eight months and nothing appealed to them as much as the new Whistler plan home by Lennar that they found at Ten Trails. “We love the home and the layout,” Dave said. “And we love being near the future Retail Village where everything is happening.” Since moving into their home in May, the Wix family have been active in the community, attending every single community event, and taking part in neighborhood activities like the new community book club.  “We love the events,” said Jan. “We love seeing the kids running around and being joyful. It’s just wonderful out here.
