Meet Jan and Dave Wix, New Neighbors at Ten Trails!

Ten Trails is happy to welcome new neighbors, Jan and Dave Wix! The couple moved to Ten Trails this past spring from nearby Kent after a long search of nearby communities. Self-described, “newlyweds,” the Wixes were on the hunt for a home they could select together as a new couple and could not be more delighted to settle into married life at Ten Trails. When it came time for house-hunting, Dave had heard about Ten Trails and did some initial research on the community’s website. The master-planned community concept appealed to the couple, and they liked what they saw when they visited Ten Trails, including the well-manicured common areas that are kept looking beautiful by efforts from the developer and HOA. The Wixes had been looking for new homes for nearly eight months and nothing appealed to them as much as the new Whistler plan home by Lennar that they found at Ten Trails. “We love the home and the layout,” Dave said. “And we love being near the future Retail Village where everything is happening.” Since moving into their home in May, the Wix family have been active in the community, attending every single community event, and taking part in neighborhood activities like the new community book club.  “We love the events,” said Jan. “We love seeing the kids running around and being joyful. It’s just wonderful out here. We like it more all the time.” The Wix family also can’t say enough good things about their experience buying a new home from Lennar. “Lennar has been delightful,” said Jan.  “Their support system with Travis and Traci has been great. We felt very well taken care of, and everyone we worked with has been professional and helpful. It was another fun and festive Labor Days event weekend in historic Black Diamond, WA. Ten Trails was happy to see a lot of familiar faces and new resident stopping by our booth. We hope to see everyone at next year’s event!

From there, commuters can walk to downtown office locations, or hop on the Link Light rail at the International District Station, just across 4^th Avenue from the train depot.

Easy Access to Local Highways Freeways

Ten Trails is conveniently situated just minutes from Hwy 169 for Eastside commutes. For residents looking to access I-5, it’s just a short drive down Auburn-Black Diamond Road to Lake Holm Rd where drivers will find access to the freeway at the bottom of the hill.

For travel to work by bus, there are several local park and rides where residents can catch a ride to nearby cities. These include the Park and Ride at 11903 SE Auburn-Black Diamond Rd. for carpool and vanpool parking only, the Black Diamond Masonic Lodge Park and Ride at 32532 3^rd Avenue for Metro Route 143 to downtown Seattle and DART 907, and the nearby Maple Valley Park and Ride on Maple Valley-Black Diamond Road SE for Metro Route 143 and DART 907.

Head to the Black Diamond Miner’s Day Festival this Weekend

Ten Trails families looking for a fun activity to do this weekend can head to nearby downtown, historic Black Diamond on Saturday, July 13^th to take part in their annual Miner’s Day festival! The event kicks off at 9 am with a 5k race that begins with the sound of the historic coal mining siren. Fun activities will be held throughout the day, with entertainment for all ages including a donut-eating contest held at 11:30 am. Women’s Suffrage Theme

The theme of this year’s Miner’s Day is “Women’s Suffrage Centennial” to commemorate the 100-year anniversary that women were given the right to vote. The festival’s traditional fashion show will give a nod to the theme with many examples of women’s attire in the early 1900’s, along with a women’s suffrage skit that will take place at noon.

Ten Trails is introducing a new event for the summer:  Sunset Markets at Ten Trails! These special vendor markets combine a farmers’ market experience of fresh produce and flowers with over 25 of the area’s best crafts vendors. The Sunset Markets will take place the second and fourth Fridays of each month, now through August, from 6 to 9 p.m. at our Civic Park. The fourth Friday of each month, our Sunset Market will be combined with our popular Hometown Social events!

Two Events in One at Ten Trails

July 26^th and August 23rd, Ten Trails will hold a Hometown Social event along with a Sunset Market. Families who attend can expect to enjoy games, bouncy houses, food trucks, music, a beer and wine garden and more!

Sunset Markets Featuring Entertainment for the Whole Family

July 12^th and August 9^th Ten Trails will hold an evening Sunset Market in our Civic Park featuring more than 25 vendors. Ten Trails Hometown Social Movie Night: Friday June 28^th

Join us on Friday, June 28^th for our very first Hometown Social event of the summer season featuring a screening of The Sandlot in our Civic Park! The movie begins at dusk, but the fun starts at 6 pm! We will have bouncy houses, yard games, food trucks, more than 25 vendors, and a beer garden, making for a fun night for every member of the family.

Bring your appetite because we will have plenty of food to enjoy at Hometown Social! Grab dinner from the Gypsy Doggs hot dog trailer, the KC Deez BBQ truck, or the Big Boys Filipino Food Truck. Finish off your meal with some freshly-popped kettle corn!

There’s fun to be had for all ages at Hometown Social! In addition to the movie, we will have yard games like corn hole, and our bocce ball and basketball courts will be open for play.
